Payal Kadakia is the CEO and founder of Classtivity , an online hub for fitness and recreation classes. Her words on building the team:

One of my core beliefs is that as a company leader, you must build a team of people who are as passionate about the business as you are. I focused on people I could trust when making the critical hiring decisions. To me, passion for the business and trustworthiness are an ideal combination for team success.

I tapped into my network of contacts and co-founded the company with a trusted friend that I had known for years. And I am glad I gave a lot of importance to interns, which turned out to be a big contribution to the business. I looked for enthusiasm, work ethic, team fit, interest in our space, and eagerness to learn. And I really got a great bunch of people based on this mix. It was one of the company’s interns who developed our slogan, “Because finding a class shouldn’t be harder than taking one!”
