MitraScore™ blends rate data, staffing mix, compliance trends, and matter outcomes into one comprehensive metric, revealing which firms deliver true value. Are premium rates matched by greater efficiency and outcomes? Do more partners drive faster resolution? With MitraScore™, clients can benchmark, compare, and continuously improve firm performance — all through a single, data-driven lens.
We noticed dramatic improvements in our data quality and our standardization of processes. The e-billing implementation alone saved us an average of about 6.7% on legal invoices. In some areas, those cost savings were even higher....It’s a gift that keeps on giving.
The bigger savings is the enforcement of centrally negotiated rates. We used to have to spot check invoices because some firms unilaterally raise their rates. Since we can enforce rates with TeamConnect we’ve saved $40 million since go live. Without TeamConnect about 50% of it would have slipped through our fingers.
We’ve saved $1.2 million since go-live two years ago, but this has dropped off now that firms realized they have to be more careful when they submit bills.

FAQs: Legal Spend Management Software
What is legal spend management software?
Legal spend management software enables corporate legal departments to track, control, and analyze outside counsel costs across matters, invoices, and law firm relationships.
By combining matter management, eBilling, invoice review, and legal spend analytics, legal teams gain visibility into legal budgets and law firm performance, helping them improve cost control, enforce billing guidelines, and make more data-driven decisions.
What should legal teams look for in legal spend management software?
Legal teams should look for solutions that combine matter management, eBilling, invoice review, analytics, and law firm performance benchmarking within a connected platform. These capabilities help legal departments control outside counsel costs, enforce billing guidelines, and gain actionable insights into legal spend.
Why do legal teams need legal spend analytics?
Because invoices tell only part of the story. Spend analytics reveal the “why” behind costs — patterns, performance, and outcomes.
Mitratech’s analytics solutions uncover which firms deliver the best value, where budgets go off track, and how rates, results, and responsiveness compare across your panel. This gives legal leaders data to negotiate smarter, forecast more accurately, and strategically allocate resources.
How does Mitratech’s approach differ from other spend management tools?
Most tools handle one part of the process — we connect the whole thing. Mitratech unifies matter management, eBilling, managed bill review, analytics, and performance benchmarking within a single platform.
Our ARIES™ AI and PlatoBI analytics turn your data into insight you can act on, while our Managed Bill Review (MBR) service ensures the integrity and accuracy of every invoice. The result: one ecosystem, one source of truth, and full lifecycle visibility.
What is MitraScore™ and how does it help?
MitraScore™ is Mitratech’s law firm performance benchmarking framework — helping clients compare law firm results on measurable outcomes like cost, staffing, compliance, resolution speed, and results quality.
It’s part of our vision to make legal spend management performance-driven, not just cost-driven — so you can reward high-performing firms, identify improvement areas, and strengthen partnerships with data.
How does Managed Bill Review (MBR) fit into the ecosystem?
Managed Bill Review bridges technology and human expertise.
It combines AI-powered categorization with expert legal billing specialists who ensure every invoice is compliant, consistent, and optimized for accuracy.
Beyond savings, MBR transforms invoices into structured, analytics-ready data — feeding your performance dashboards, benchmarks, and strategic reports.
It’s the engine that powers continuous improvement across your legal spend lifecycle.
Can legal spend management improve law firm relationships?
Yes — dramatically. By aligning firms and clients around shared performance data, spend management reduces billing disputes and replaces friction with trust.
Conversations shift from cost to value: how firms perform, deliver outcomes, and contribute to long-term success. With shared visibility and benchmarking, legal departments and firms can collaborate on efficiency and quality instead of rates alone.
Does Mitratech integrate with existing enterprise systems?
Yes. Mitratech solutions integrate seamlessly with ERP/AP, HCM, CLM, DMS, and risk/compliance systems, creating a unified data model across your organization. This ensures every dollar of legal spend connects to business strategy and financial visibility.
How does ARIES™ AI enhance spend management?
ARIES™ AI brings intelligence and speed to every stage of spend management. It automates invoice categorization, flags anomalies, and surfaces predictive insights in real time.
Leaders can ask natural-language questions — “Which firms are exceeding budget by matter type?” — and ARIES delivers instant, accurate answers based on structured, trustworthy data.
Is Mitratech secure and compliant?
Yes. Mitratech is SOC 2 certified, trusted by over 20% of the Fortune 50, and built with rigorous infosec, data processing, and vendor security protocols. Our compliance framework meets or exceeds industry standards for privacy, access control, and auditability — ensuring your data is safe, governed, and reliable.
