What is I-9 Pro?
I-9 Pro is Mitratech’s remote Form I-9 verification service. After a new hire completes Section 1 online, they schedule a live video appointment with one of Tracker I-9’s trained compliance experts, who reviews the employee’s identity and work authorization documents and completes Section 2 — no in-person meeting required.
How Does I-9 Pro Work?
The employee completes Section 1 online, uploads images of their identity and work authorization documents, and schedules a live video call. A Tracker I-9 compliance expert reviews the documents during that call and completes Section 2 on the employer’s behalf.
Is my company eligible to use I-9 Pro?
Your worksite must be enrolled in E-Verify. This follows a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) rule that lets E-Verify participants use remote document examination as an alternative to in-person inspection.
What's the difference between I-9 Pro and I-9 Pro + E-Verify?
I-9 Pro completes Section 2 of the Form I-9 via video call. I-9 Pro + E-Verify does the same, and also manages the resulting E-Verify case on the employer’s behalf.
Is I-9 Pro compliant with federal I-9 rules?
Yes. I-9 Pro is built around the DHS rule (effective July 2023) authorizing remote document examination for E-Verify-enrolled employers, so it operates within a recognized alternative to physical document inspection rather than around it. Learn more.
Does I-9 Pro replace E-Verify?
No. I-9 Pro verifies identity and work authorization documents and completes Section 2. E-Verify is a separate federal system that confirms work eligibility; I-9 Pro + E-Verify is the tier that manages both together.
